Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis completed their second trip to the wonderful New Castle Motorsports Park to take in the second weekend of Rotax Pan-American Challenge racing action. The team entered the weekend on top of the Rotax Mini-Max and Rotax Max Junior standings, a spot they looked to build on over the weekend. RDD Motorsports would field three drivers in two classes. Heading into the weekend Sebastian Ordonez would lead the Junior Max field atop the standings while Dalton Sargeant lead the way in Mini Max. Logan Sargeant joined brother Dalton in the Mini Max class looking to move himself in the overall standings.

Friday was a full day of official practice in Mini Max, which saw Dalton take fast time in final practice with Logan crossing the stripe in the sixth spot. For Ordonez he would complete a full day of official practice and take third spot among the 33 junior drivers on hand for the weekend.

Saturday would bring stormy mid west weather as the drivers had to contend with rain and changing track conditions. In Junior Max, Ordonez would strike early taking pole and following that up with second in the pre-final. In the final it was a great battle up front as the several drivers raced for a podium spot. At the line Ordonez
would cross in the fourth position, just missing the podium.

In Mini Max action the RDD drivers worked to improve on their wet weather program. Dalton took fourth in timed qualifying while Logan crossed through in the ninth position. Both drivers made solid moves forward in the prefinal as the track conditions dried, with Dalton grabbing second and Logan moving up four spots to take fifth. In the final it was Dalton going to the front early only to suffer a late race spin, falling back to seventh spot. Meanwhile younger brother Logan charged forward to grab the last podium spot crossing the line in the third place.

“Our wet weather program is getting better and better,” comments RDD Motorsports owner Andre Serra. “We just don’t get to practice it enough in South Florida as the tracks usually flood when it rains. Every time we race in the wet we get better.”

Sunday was sunny skies and a track taking on new grip and faster speeds. In Junior Max, Ordonez would focus on the day ahead and look to grab some valuable championship points. The day started perfect with fast time qualifying to secure the pole for the prefinal. Ordonez backed that up with the win in the pre-final to grab the front row pole position for the final. Another great battle was on tap for the huge field of Juniors in which Ordonez was able to drive smart and cross in second place and join the post race ceremonies.

It was up to the Mini Max drivers to match Ordonez’s pace and bring home some valuable championship points. In timed qualifying Dalton lead the way with second spot followed closely on the time sheets by Logan in third. In the prefinal it was Dalton taking the win to grab the inside front row for the final with Logan crossing in the third position. In the final it was great run for both Kart Mini drivers as they took home two spots on the podium with Dalton in second place and Logan in third.

“Sunday was a good day for the RDD Kart Mini drivers as all of them made it onto the podium,” continues Serra. “These results this weekend should keep us on top of the championship in both classes. ”

The team stayed in New Castle on Monday for a full day of testing, looking to improve for their third and final trip to NCMP in a few weeks time. Up next for RDD Motorsports will be next round of the South Florida Rotax Max Challenge followed by a trip back to New Castle Motorsports Park in July for the US Rotax Grand Nationals.
