RDD Motorsports Ready For Rotax
Pan-American Challenge Round #2
Kart Mini squad head back to New Castle for round two of the new all Rotax National Series with two drivers topping the standings
Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis is making a second of three trips to the famed New Castle Motorsports Park located just east of Indianapolis, IN. The team will be bringing three drivers for the second round of the Rotax Pan-American Challenge taking place June 11-13. The RDD Motorsports team was in New Castle a few weeks back for the opening round of the WSK North American Series and will return in July for the US Rotax Grand Nationals. Heading into the weekend the RDD crew sits atop two classes including Rotax Junior Max with Sebastian Ordonez and Rotax Mini Max headed by Dalton Sargeant.
In the opening round of Rotax Junior Max competition, Ordonez had a stellar weekend sweeping the event by taking pole in qualifying in both Saturday and Sunday action along with winning both prefinal races. The weekend remained perfect as Ordonez swept both finals earning the maximum points of 188. This puts Ordonez up by 16 points over second place. The Florida-based driver will look to stay ahead of the field as he uses his points cushion to run a smart race as the field chases his top spot.
“Sebastian had a great opening weekend and we hope to have the same success this weekend,” comments RDD Motorsports owner Andre Serra. “We like the New Castle track and our Kart Mini chassis works well here.”
In Rotax Mini Max the RDD Motorsports team has two drivers sitting in a solid positions in the points standings. Dalton Sargeant leads the way with 185 point as he, like his teammate Ordonez, had a dominant opening weekend. Sargeant was able to grab both poles in the double-header event held at the MSR Houston facility. The second year Mini Max driver then backed that up by taking both the Saturday and Sunday pre-finals. In Saturday racing action Dalton would take the final win while on Sunday he would have to settle for second in the final, just missing out the clean sweep by one spot . His loss in the Sunday final came at the hands of teammate and younger brother Logan who now sits tied for third spot in the standings just 20 point back with 165.
“This is going to be a tough weekend. There are lots of guys here to get ready for the upcoming Grand Nationals,” continues Serra. “We might see as many as 30 karts in junior which will be a good indicator of what we can expect when we return to New Castle in July.”
Up next for RDD Motorsports will be more testing and the next round of the South Florida RMax Challenge followed by a trip back to New Castle in July for the US Rotax Grand Nationals
