RDD Motorsports Florida Summer Shootout Report

A full squad of Kart Mini drivers were on hand for South Florida regional action at the Homestead Karting facilit

Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis headed to their home track to compete in round three of the South Florida Rotax Max Challenge. All four drivers were on hand to compete with Logan and Dalton Sargeant running in the Rotax Mini Max class and Sebastian Ordonez and Garrett Sargeant running in the Rotax Junior Max class. The Homestead track has been home the RDD Motorsports team for the last few seasons and provides some great racing for the Summer Shootout crowd. 

In Mini Max it wax a stellar weekend for Dalton Sargeant as he took pole in timed qualifying and followed that up with a win in the prefinal. Teammate Logan would take third in the timed qualifying session and the repeat that position in the prefinal. Lined up on the inside of rows one and two, the RDD drivers looked to own the podium in the final. At the drop of the checkered flag it was Dalton with the win and Logan taking home the third spot. 

“I am really proud of Loggie (Logan) this weekend. He was sick all weekend and never gave up,” comments Andre Serra, owner of RDD Motorsports. “He ended up with a temperature of 102 degrees on Monday. This kid has real heart.”

In Junior Max, the duo of Sebastian and Garrett would take on a solid field of local talent with loads of national experience. In qualifying it was Sebastian showing the way taking third spot with Garett in sixth position. In the prefinal it was Sebastian moving up one to finish in second place while Garrett battled chasing the leaders to grab the sixth spot. From his front row starting position Ordonez would head the lead early and look to control the pace. At the stripe it was Ordonez with the win and Sargeant moving up to finish fifth, his first top five as a junior. 

“Garrett continues to gain speed on the leaders each time out in the kart,” continues Serra. “He will be battling at the front very soon.”

Up next for RDD Motorsports will be a rare weekend off as the crew looks to enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend. This will be followed by a week of testing and then the team will head to Newcastle Motorsports Park inIndiana for the Pan Am Challenge. The RDD Motorsports team will head back to Las Vegas for the SuperNats late in the year.
