Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the
exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis, sits in
the top spot in two different class championships at the CKI Florida
Cup after an outstanding weekend of racing action. With all four RDD
Motorsports drivers on track the team put in a solid effort to take
four podiums and six fast laps in the double-header weekend. The team
rolled into Homestead-Miami Speedway for the second of three weekends
of racing looking to stay on top of the standings and earn as many
championship points as possible. Entering the weekend, Rotax Max
Junior pilot Sebastian Ordonez held onto second in the point
standings, while Mini Max driver Dalton Sargeant held down the third
spot in the point tally.
"The entire team did a good job and the results showed our consistency
and preparation", comments Andre Serra, RDD Motorsports Team Manager. “With two RDD drivers running at the top in the points we are very
happy with the performance of the Kart Mini chassis and the engine
department.”
In Mini Max all three Sargeant boys would see action at the permanent
parking lot facility of Homestead-Miami Speedway. On Saturday race one
action, Dalton would go P1 in timed qualifying as Logan grabbed second
and Garett would slide into seventh. In the prefinal, the all RDD
front row would not last for long as contact shuffled Dalton back in
the field. At the line it was Logan in second spot with fast lap of
the race, followed by Dalton in fourth and Garett in eight. For the
final Dalton would not be denied a shot at victory as the elder Mini
Max driver immediately went to the front and paced the field. At the
line it was Dalton taking the top spot with Logan in fourth and Garett
crossing in eight spot.
On Sunday, it would be Dalton running the clean sweep of the day. He
took pole in the qualifying with Logan in P3 and Garett in tenth. The
prefinal would see Dalton take the win along with the fastest lap.
Logan was in hot pursuit in second and Garett, making forward
progress, crossed in seventh spot. For the final, brothers Dalton and
Logan would line up side-by-side to take the green. Dalton would slide
into the lead, while Logan battled to hold the third spot. After
moving into the second position, contact would send Logan back to the
seventh spot. At the line it was Dalton taking his second straight win
of the weekend with Logan powering forward to grab fourth and taking
fast lap of the race. Garett would run strong to cross inside the top
ten taking the eight spot.
In Junior Rotax action Sebastian Ordonez, the sole RDD Motorsports
driver, would take third in Saturday qualifying to start inside row
two for the prefinal. In the prefinal Ordonez would take the lead
early and cross the line in first place and grab fast lap at the same
time. Starting from pole for the final Ordonez would take the early
lead and never look back. Crossing the line to take the win, Ordonez
would again secure the fast lap for a second straight run. On Sunday,
the Junior driver in yellow and black would do one better in
qualifying to grab P2. In the prefinal Ordonez would again see the
number two as he took second spot at the line in a tough battle for
the top spot. Starting from the outside of the front row for the
final, Ordonez would run for the lead on several occasions and have to
settle for another second spot and again taking fast lap in the process.
After the weekend point tally, Dalton would sit on top of the Mini Max
standings with Logan tied for third spot and Garett holding down the
seventh spot. In the very tough Junior Rotax class, Ordonez would
leave the weekend tied for the top spot in the standings.
“The boys ran well in Mini Max with Dalton having another great
weekend,” comments Serra. “We are in tough in the Junior Rotax class
for the title and the final weekend will be some really good racing. ”

the CKI Florida Cup taking place at Homestead-Miami Speedway. That
