RDD Motorsports Takes On Fall Racing Series
South Florida-based karting team hits their home track to finish off 2009 and prepare for the 2010 season
Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis, headed back to home soil for the Homestead Karting Fall classic at the Miami Homestead Karting facility. All the RDD team was on hand including a special guest driver. Gabby Chavez of Colombia, the reigning 2009 Formula BMW Americas Champion, raced in the Rotax Senior class aboard the Kart Mini M2 chassis.
In preparation for the 2010 season, Logan Sargeant made the jump to Mini Max. The current 2009 National Micro Max Champion and nationally number one ranked Cadet did not disappoint in his junior class debut. He would qualify in the third spot to start inside row two for the prefinal. In the prefinal Logan would run at the front and finish in third spot. For the final he would stay at the front and take home the second step on the podium in his Rotax Mini Max debut. RDD Rotax Mini Max regular Dalton Sargeant would take the second spot in qualifying and run a solid prefinal to finish in second. In the final, a fading power plant limited his forward progress to fourth place. The third RDD Kart Mini team member in Rotax Mini Max was Garrett Sargeant who would qualify in sixth place and complete the prefinal event in sixh. Garrett would cross the stripe in the final in seventh after contact mid-race moved him back in the order.
“It was great to have all three of our drivers in the Mini Max class,” comments Andre Serra, team manager for RDD Motorsports. “It has been a long season and the kids keep giving their all each time they go out to race.”
In Junior Sebastian Ordonez ran a solid weekend aboard his Kart Mini M2 chassis. Ordonez started the day off right setting the fastest lap in timed qualifying to sit on pole for the prefinal. He would go on to win the prefinal and complete the run by taking the top spot in the final event.
In Rotax Senior Max, guest driver Gabby Chavez would get up to speed quickly aboard his M2 Kart Mini Chassis. In qualifying Chavez would grab the fourth spot as he worked on the kart to find more speed. In the prefinal he would move forward crossing the line in third spot to sit inside the second row for the final. With several sessions under his belt, the ultra quick Columbian would head quickly to the front and pace the final event. At the waving of the checkered flag it was Chavez in first place taking top spot on the podium.
“I am very happy with the entire team’s performance this past weekend,” states team principal André Serra. “It was great to have Logan do well in Mini, see Sebastian on the podium and have Gabby step in and take a win. The Kart Mini is working great and with new models for 2010 we should be very fast again.”
