RDD Motorsports Heads To Rotax Grand Nationals Ranked Number One In Two Classes
South Florida-based karting team heads to major US National event with four drivers competing in three different classes
Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis, will head west to Oklahoma for the Rotax Grand Nationals being held at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex from September 10th to 15th. This will mark the third trip to OMC in 2009 for the RDD Motorsports crew. The RDD Team swept the Summer Shootout. Also the team recently completed the six round South Florida Rotax Max Challenge, a designated RMC qualifying series. These two series combined to give RDD Motorsports drivers’ top honors in two different classes.
Heading into the Rotax Grand Finals, the US Rotax Kart Challenge National Points Standings has placed two RDD Motorsports drivers on the top of the national rankings. Logan goes into the event with a huge lead in the national standings in Micro Max, while Dalton takes top honors in the Mini Max class. The national rankings do not carry any points into the Grand Nationals, but do represent the hard work the drivers put forward all season long.
“RDD Motorsports is very proud to have two drivers topping the national standings,” states team principal André Serra. “It’s great to see all the hard work recognized and the results adding up to a top national ranking.”
Logan Sargeant, the lone Kart Mini pilot in the Rotax Micro Max class, was able to bring home the 2009 Florida Winter Tour Rotax Micro Max Championship. If speed is what it takes to win in this class, this pilot had plenty of it. Starting the campaign off with back-to-back wins in rounds one and two showed Logan to be the driver to beat. Logan would back up that championship with the 2009 South Florida RMax Challenge title, going six for six in wins. At the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex Summer Shootout, Logan would win on Saturday and Sunday giving him the top spot in combined points for the weekend.
Dalton Sargeant runs in the Rotax Mini Max class in 2009 and was able to finish in third in the final standings of the 2009 Florida Winter Tour. Dalton would start off well in the South Florida RMax Challenge action and take the series title in the sixth and final round. The RMax Summer Shootout, a warm-up for the RMC Grand Nationals, Dalton would take the win on both days and with that strong performance, the overall top spot for the weekend.
Garret Sargeant, the second RDD Motorsports pilot to run in the Rotax Mini Max class, had an outstanding second year of Rotax Mini Max kart racing competition and finished in twelfth in his first attempt at the Florida Winter Tour in the Rotax Mini Max class. Garett would complete a limited schedule due to an injury. He returned to karting action at the midpoint of season and took fifth at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex Summer Shootout. This multi-sport athlete looks to start strong in 2010.
Sebastian Ordonez of Columbia would carry the Kart Mini colors in the Rotax Junior class. While he was able to get strong runs in place, the racing luck was hard to come by in this highly contested class. Using the M2 chassis designed by Kart Mini, Ordonez kept charging and would battle for the South Florida RMax Challenge Rotax Junior title until the final race weekend. A stop at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex Summer Shootout would see the ultra quick driver finish in fourth. Finally, a return to his home track of Homestead Karting would see Ordonez clinch the South Florida RMax Challenge Rotax Junior title.
“The team is very excited to be heading back to OMC for the Grand Nationals,” states Serra. “WE have had success there and look to leave Norman with strong performances from all of our drivers.”
