RDD Motorsports has solid start to Summer Shootout at Lowe's Motorspeedway
South Florida-based racing team begins a new challenge entering the ten-race series in the Bandolero Bandits class in all three classes.
Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis, made their debut in the highly competitive 600 Racing Bandolero Summer Shootout. Racing one driver short, two RDD Motorsports drivers saw action at the famous Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Logan Sargeant, along with brother Dalton, ran in the Bandit class in Tuesday night’s opening action.
RDD Motorsports has teamed up with Ronnie Basset to run the entire ten race Summer Shootout at Lowes Motor Speedway. This would be the first time the two brothers would race against each other in on-track competition. There were a total of 48 cars on hand with 28 of them moving on to run in the 20 lap main event. A series of heat races would determine the order for the final event.
“The drivers did well in preparing for their first time out in the Shootout,” comments RDD Motorsports team manager Andre Serra. “It’s our first taste of the Summer Shootout program and the team is very excited about the season ahead.”
Dalton would finish third in his heat race and move directly to the main. His third place finish would place him in the ninth starting spot for the main. In the main event Dalton would move forward early and move up to fifth by half way. He would hold his #01 car in the top five to finish fifth at the checkered flag.
Logan would finish his heat race in fifth place and also go directly to the main event. Logan would place his #24 car on the outside row. Past half way Logan would move up to eighth spot having worked traffic and avoiding incidents. Just a couple of laps later, contact with a spinning car broke the right front corner of Logan’s car ending his night early.
“It was a good night and both drivers showed that they had good pace,” states Serra. “The competition level is very high and we will look to improve our results in the next event.” The Kart Mini/RDD Motorsports Team will return to Lowes for Round #2 for the Summer Shootout.
